Classroom Procedures
First Five Minutes
When you enter the room, get your 3-ring binder from the shelf and get to your seat. Get out your homework from the night before and any materials needed for class. There will be warm-up problems on the smart board or the chalkboard. Work on these problems quietly and independently.

During the lesson
Take notes and actively participate. Because of the 80-minute period, you will be doing various types of activities. 100% participation is crucial to make the class time go smoothly. Active participation is needed to receive a high participation grade at the end of the quarter. Do not ask to go to the lav, nurse or guidance during a lesson. Please use the bathroom between classes. If you need to use the lav during class, please wait until the last 5 minutes. Late passes are to be given to me as you enter the class.

The bell
The bells are a reminder to teachers that the class period should begin or end.
The bell does not dismiss you, I do. Stay in your seat until you are dismissed.

GradesGrades are not given but earned. Your grade will be an evaluation of homework, class-work, tests and quizzes, and class participation. Grades will be computed strictly by points. Example: Student's percent and letter grade: 210/229 = 92% equivalent letter grade A-.
Homework
Throughout the course of the year, students will be assigned homework. Homework will be checked randomly. Homework will be checked for completion. Each homework check is worth 3 points. If the homework is completed, the student will earn all 3 points. If the homework is incomplete, the student will earn 0 points. There is no partial credit. On occasion, I may collect homework assignments. This collected assignment will be graded for accuracy and ALL WORK MUST BE SHOWN! If you are absent for any reason it is your responsibility to make up all missed work by checking with a classmate or Mr. Gambler. If you make it through the marking period without missing a homework assignment, 2% will be added to your overall grade.

Make-up Work
Every student is responsible for making up his or her work from absence(s). Each student has the same number of days to make up their work as the number of days they were absent. Chapter tests and quizzes must be made up before the next chapter test. Students who fail to make up his or her work in the time allowed will obtain a zero in the grade book for that assignment.

Help!
If at anytime you are struggling with the material and would like some extra help, please do not hesitate to ask. I am in my room most mornings before school (7:10-7:35) and can also make advanced arrangements for after school help. Tutoring is also made available. Outside tutoring by a qualified tutor (if they are available) is also an option. Mr. Sahd (Math Dept. Supervisor) has a list of qualified tutors and their phone numbers. Feel free to check out the useful links and videos for help as well.
